We are thrilled to meet you all in Florida and hear about your research and show how well the Molecular Pixelation technology can fit into the single cell multiomics toolkit.

How cells move and communicate and fight infection and diseases such as cancer are governed by the spatial arrangement of cell surface proteins. However, cellular activity is a massively understudied dimension of life, and new technologies are needed to analyze cell surface proteins in a spatial context more precisely. 

At Pixelgen, our mission is to deepen our understanding of human biology for a healthier world. Our revolutionary Molecular Pixelation technology brings a new spatial dimension to the analysis of cell-surface proteins, enabling the advancement of basic science and the acceleration of new therapeutics.
 
We deliver next-dimension, single cell, spatial proteomics for basic research, drug discovery and development, and diagnostics. Our Molecular Pixelation technology offers deep cellular phenotyping by revealing polarization and co-localization of proteins at high multiplex. Pixelation is enabled by cell surface zonation using DNA barcoding, and data is then presented in a three-dimensional spatial map.
 
Pixelgen Technologies AB was founded in 2020 by a team of passionate, experienced innovators and entrepreneurs with a vision to bring a new spatial understanding to biology by mapping cell surface proteins and their spatial inter-relationships.

Pixelgen Single Cell Spatial Proteomics Kit Competition

Have you ever wondered about the spatial arrangement of the cell-surface proteins in your immune cells of interest?

We invite researchers attending the AGBT 2023 meeting to join in this competition. The winner will be sent one Single Cell Spatial Proteomics Kit (Immunology Panel, Human) and can run up to eight human immune cell samples with Pixelgen’s comprehensive immunology panel to elucidate the three-dimensional spatial orchestration of surface proteins.

 
Terms and Conditions

Sample input: PBMCs or isolated immune cells
Timing: The SC Spatial Proteomics kit will be sent when Pixelgen commercially launch the product (sometime in 2023, exact date TBD)
 
The winner will be chosen among those who will be able to: 
  • Run the full project in a six-month period
  • Aim to submit findings for publication in high-impact journal

 

The competition submissions are confidential to the applicant and Pixelgen, and will not be distributed or published.
 
The winner must be willing to present findings in a Pixelgen-hosted webinar, seminar, blog or similar forum to be mutually agreed upon in good faith by the winner and Pixelgen. 
 
Requirements
Applicants must reside and work in Europe, Asia/Pacific or North America and be enrolled at an academic institution or employed at a commercial research entity to be eligible to win the grant. The winner must be 18 or older. 
 
Other
  • No purchase is necessary to participate in the competition, and Pixelgen Technologies AB is the sponsor of the entire  competition.
  • Pixelgen may process the applicants’ personal data per our privacy policy.
  • The winner cannot choose to receive cash instead of receiving the kit, and the prize is non-transferable.
  • Pixelgen reserves the right to cancel, suspend or modify the competition, if for some reason the program cannot operate as planned.

Abstract

The spatial arrangement of the surface proteome of single cells determines their activity in health and disease. Protein spatial architecture enables cell-cell communication, mobility, structure, and immunological activities such as the immune synapse. However, tools for studying these fundamental processes of life at the scale, resolution and throughput needed to facilitate large studies and data driven science are lacking, mainly due to the limitations of microscopy. To enable such studies, we have developed a DNA sequence based method to report the relative location of cell surface proteins by binding these with DNA-tagged antibodies and interrogating their relative locations using Molecular Pixelation. Molecular Pixelation uses DNA pixels (100 nm scale UMI concatemers), that hybridize to 5-10 cell bound target antibodies and imprint a UMI on these by a gap-fill ligation reaction effectively colocalizing target proteins. Subsequently, the relative location of these colocalization zones are determined by a second gap-fill ligation reaction using a second set of DNA pixels. The resulting product is amplified by PCR and subjected to standard short-read sequencing. All steps of Molecular Pixelation are performed in a reaction tube with no need for specialized equipment. Our pipeline computationally arranges the sequencing reads into spatial single cell proteome information of around 1000 pixels per cell, depending on cell type.
